Children who come to our centre are seen as unique and capable individuals that have their own interests, skills, and ideas. We feel children have the right to be active participants in their own learning and must be empowered to express their views and ideas. We will value, respect and appreciate their individual uniqueness. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework we will work alongside your child to actively promote meaningful learning in all areas of development.
We acknowledge that the family is the most important and influential aspect in the lives of young children, we will not underestimate the significance of this relationship. Our aim is to involve parents and families in all aspects of the program and your child’s learning. We will strive to develop positive, mutually respectful relationships with all family members to ensure the best possible outcomes for all. We embrace cultural diversity, respecting family’s diverse values, beliefs, cultural backgrounds and tradition. Families are encouraged to share their culture and experiences with our Educators.
We recognise that Our Educators/staff are our most valued and precious resource and aim to provide them with a satisfying and safe working environment. We also appreciate the skills and experience of all educators/staff, their dedication is an integral element of the success of our service. Management acknowledges its obligation and commitment to personal growth and development and offers ongoing training and education to all educators and staff.
We will strive to be seen as a service of excellence and quality within our community, a service that values community involvement in all aspects of our program. We will strive to build respectful and mutually beneficial relationships with our local community where resources are utilised effectively to enhance the growth and development of individual children, families and educators/staff.
We believe in a program that is play based and guided by the child’s interest. We embrace the Reggio Emilia approach to learning, with its belief that children have rights and should be given opportunities to develop their full potential. Children are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas. We believe children must have some control over the direction of their learning incorporating the child’s voice.
Our curriculum is guided by the Victorian Early Years Learning Framework (VEYLF) and the concepts of Belonging, Being and Becoming
The five learning outcomes are:

- Children are confident and involved learners.
- Children are effective communicators.
The environment plays a very significant part of your child’s learning as is seen as the third educator after the parent and teacher. The environment should stimulate a child’s mind to enhance their learning, and capture their imagination engaging them in learning, creativity and socialising. We make use of natural resources and organise the environment for children to be independent learners. We believe children are connected and contribute to their world when they demonstrate increasing knowledge and respect for natural and constructed environments
We encourage environmental sustainability by empowering children and educators to take responsibility for making informed decisions towards a sustainable future. We promote water conservation, recycling and growing seasonal foods to be used at the centre. By incorporating natural and recycled resources and materials into the program we are supporting the children’s engagement with and respect for the natural environments.
We believe that a statement of the centre’s philosophy changes as new insights are gained and best practices are evaluated.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we work and play on today as Boonwurrung Land and embrace contemporary teachings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders culture.
